Extinguished is a 2.5d puzzle-platformer where light is a precious resource. It tells a story of a young boy who got lost in dark abandoned mine. The main mechanic of the game is that the player can only see the environment while holding a lantern. However, the lantern is extinguished whenever the character runs, jumps, falls or interacts with objects.  Therefore, in addition to standard platforming skills and clever mind, to beat the game , the player will also need a good memory to remember the safe paths in the darkness. Instructions You will only need a keyboard to play. Controls of the game are taught in-game. Press "Run game" to start. You can optionally activate fullscreen mode with blue button with arrows on the bottom right corner of the game view.Current version of the WebGL build unfortunately does not support saving. There is about 45 minutes of game content. About This game was made as part of Aalto University master level course Game Project. It was created during 5 weeks with a team of 6 persons with different backgrounds. The original idea for the game was designed by Miro Aurela and a 3 minute presentation pitch for the concept was created together with Mark Laukkanen. In a voting among course members, our pitch was selected as the best and this project with the 4 follow-up projects were started. The team was selected among students inspired by the game concept. After forming the team, the concept was focused together to fit the available time span and the interests of the team member. The goal of the project was to create a demo showing the potential of the game concept. It explores the possibilities of using total darkness both as a game mechanic and an atmospheric tool.
